APPLE & STRAWBERRY CRUMBLE

INGREDIENTS
4 green apples (about 540 gm), cut into 3cm pieces
1½ tbsp plain flour
¼ tsp each ground cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
1 tsp ground allspice
60 gm butter, chopped
90 gm honey
375 gm caster sugar
Juice and finely grated
Rind of 2 lemons
750 gm strawberries, hulled and halved
Vanilla ice-cream, to serve
Crumble
150 gm butter, softened
150 gm brown sugar
150 gm (1 cup) plain flour
150 gm almond meal
75 gm rolled oats
METHOD
Step 1
Dice the apples into bite-sized pieces and place them in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the spices, half the sugar, and the flour. Prepare the strawberries by slicing them, then add a pinch of salt and the juice of half a lemon. Cook for 5 minutes, then stir in the strawberries and a bit more sugar.
Step 2
Once the strawberries start to soften, turn off the heat and prepare the crumble mixture. Combine flour, almond meal, rolled oats, hazelnuts, almonds, sugar, and butter. Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the apple and strawberry filling. Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake for about 40 minutes.
