INGREDIENTS
300g pork belly, cut into strips
200ml chicken stock
1 cinnamon stick
3 tbsp hoisin sauce (plus extra for brushing)
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 star anise
METHOD
Step 1
In a large pan, sear the pork belly strips on both sides until caramelised, then remove them from the pan.
Add the chicken stock to the pan to deglaze it, allowing it to reduce by half.
Add the cinnamon stick, star anise, hoisin sauce, and soy sauce to the pan.
Simmer the sauce until it thickens, then return the pork belly strips to the pan.
Transfer the pan to a preheated oven at 200°C and cook for 5 minutes to finish cooking the pork.
Step 2
To serve, arrange the pork belly strips on a plate alongside a serving of rice.
Brush the pork with extra hoisin sauce for a glossy finish.
